Refer to the DirectTalk/6000 Configuration and Administration guide for the information on saving a system image. To install this PTF, use the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) as instructed in the following steps. Note that the SMIT panels that are described are those which are supported on AIX 4.1, and may differ slightly on your system. However, you should still be able to use SMIT to navigate to the correct menu. If you need additional information about using SMIT and installing software, please refer to your AIX Installation Guide. A certain amount of free disk space is required for the installation of this PTF. If there is not enough space available, then SMIT will advise you of this prior to attempting the install process. To install this PTF: 1. Shut down the DirectTalk/6000 system using the Quiesce Shutdown pulldown menu option from the Administration menu option. 2. Log on to AIX as 'root'. 3. Type 'smit' and press Enter. 4. Select 'Software Installation & Maintenance' and press Enter. 5. Select 'Install / Update Software' and press Enter. 6. Select 'Install / Update Selectable Software (Custom Install)' and press Enter. 7. Select 'Install Fileset Updates by Fix' and press Enter. 8. Press F4 to list the available devices and select the device where the PTF media is loaded and press Enter. Alternatively, overtype the field with the device name. 9. A panel is then displayed where additional install options may be specified. It is recommended that you press F4 to review the list of APARs (fixes) packaged on the media. You may then select the APARs from the list. The remainder of the options can be left as the default values. However, some of the options may need to be altered if there is not enough free disk space available for the install. See your AIX Installation Guide for more details. Note: It is recommended that "COMMIT software?" option is set to "NO", since it is not possible to remove the Fix once it has been committed. You can commit the Fix at a later date if you wish, once you are satisfied with it. Finally, ensure that the media is loaded correctly, and press Enter to start the install. 10. When the installation process is complete, exit 'smit' and run 'vae.setuser' to refresh file ownership. Enter the following command: /usr/lpp/dirTalk/tools/vae.setuser At the prompt for a user ID, enter your DirectTalk/6000 user ID. This concludes the PTF installation. IMPORTANT NOTE IMPORTANT : You must reboot your RISC/System 6000 after applying this PTF in order to activate the fixes. This concludes the PTF installation. New fixes contained in this PTF (Fix level 227) 1.This PTF allows you to save your DirectTalk/6000 v1.6 data. After installing DirectTalk/6000 v2.1 or v2.2, you will be able to use the restoreDT that is supplied with these releases to restore your DirectTalk data. Previous fixes contained in this PTF 1.DTMF tones are not recognised correctly on some phones on E1 trunk. (APAR IX80656) 2.If a nested Alarm condition occurs such that the first alarm has not cleared before a second higher priority alarm occurs, then if a call is made immediately the trunk comes back into service, it can result in Ring No Answer and Error 3 logged. This has now been corrected. (APAR IX79358) 3.Enables quiesce to complete when there are channels in alarm state. (APAR IX79083) 4.Prevents a crash during watchdog timer processing when there are not enough music channels. (DEFECT 24235) 5.A problem which prevented call progress tone definitions being cut and pasted in the GUI by IBM personell and business partners. (APAR IX77986) 6.If a function is copied from a source custom server to a target custom server and that function was already defined in the target custom server prior to the copy operation, then you may experience problems during compilation of the target custom server. The copy operation would have succeeded, but the input and output parameters that were previously defined could become corrupted. This fix ensures that you cannot copy a function from a source custom server to a target custom server if the function is already defined in the target custom server. You must first delete the function from the target custom server, before attempting to copy the function from the source custom server to the target custom server. (APAR IX76266) 7.Fixes a problem which caused DT/6000 to think that lines were in idle when the switch thought the lines were blocked immediately after enable. This occurs immediately after enabling the trunk. Also fixes a problem where a spurious Voice buffer underrun error is generated. (APAR IX73326) 8.If the group id of a voice directory was changed and that voice directory had a description, the description would be truncated to 4 characters. (APAR IX75794) 9.When voice segment descriptions are longer than 69 characters they will have every 69th character missing when printed out. (print formatting error). This problem has now been fixed. (APAR IX72510) 10.The vaeinit.nox script file did not terminate correctly, and therefore, was left running. This fix will make it terminate and return.
