We, the reality is there's no such thing as single build environment that will work for all eCS/OS2 projects. We simply have more disparate toolchains that the linux world. >And either >they are not set up properly or I do not know how to use them properly >(each is likely) because most builds I attempt experience a variety of >problems. Either situation is a possibility. Of course, to solve these kinds of problems, you need to supply specific examples of what you are doing and how what you are doing fails. This is probably the best list for ux2bs issues. Questions about the other build environments are best asked elsewhere. >If UX2BS is obsolete, is there a preferred alternate way to create a >build environment? FWIW, I would not call ux2bs obsolete. It works within its design parameters. A more appropriate question would be is ux2bs a good choice for the specific app you want to port. It usually will, but it's some much easier to put copies of sh, ash and bash in /bin so you are not tilting against the wind. Further to what Steven has written, I would also like to point out that there is more than one way to skin a cat, and this is software, when is software ever dead, if John or someone updates, or doesnt update the core, others can always feel free to update parts of it (and forward to John ?), and its still a valid build enviroment. If it doesnt get updated it still has a use either as a stand alone product or as part of a GCC Build System with updated utilities from the later GCC versions. >You would be better off asking John Polorak directly.
