BTW, FreeBSD port collection is better then ux2bs. It use make and sh scripts for the build process, have depth system, package system and many useful tools. May be its good idea to port it to os2 and create ux2bs based on the freebsd port system? -- Alex Samorukov (SAMM1-RIPE) _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 4 ==========================** Date: Thu, 24 Jun 2004 11:45:43 +0100 From: John Poltorak Subject: Re: UX2BS install w/o inet On Thu, Jun 24, 2004 at 01:16:46PM +0300, Alex Samorukov wrote: > John Poltorak wrote: > > >On Thu, Jun 24, 2004 at 11:27:06AM +0300, Alex Samorukov wrote: > > > > > >>Hi. > >> > >>I have internet at office (FreeBSD), but PC with OS/2 is at home. The BSD ports collection has developed over a long time by a lot of people and almost everything works seemlessly. With OS/2 we have to work from scratch. We don't even have a standard Unix environment to be able to use to build anything and there are very few people with an in depth knowledge of how apps can actually be built, and their number is diminishing. If you have any ideas and expertise, by all means suggest how UX2BS can be improved, but as far as I'm concerned it is the shortage of tools or ability to build them rather than a package system which is holding things up. If you can build things yourself, you don't really need a package because you can just grab the source. > > -- > Alex Samorukov (SAMM1-RIPE) -- John _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 5 ==========================** Date: Thu, 24 Jun 2004 13:56:58 +0300 From: Alex Samorukov Subject: Re: UX2BS install w/o inet John Poltorak wrote: >On Thu, Jun 24, 2004 at 01:16:46PM +0300, Alex Samorukov wrote: > > >>John Poltorak wrote: >> >> >> >>>On Thu, Jun 24, 2004 at 11:27:06AM +0300, Alex Samorukov wrote: >>> >>> >>> >>> >>>>Hi. >>>> >>>>I have internet at office (FreeBSD), but PC with OS/2 is at home. Once all the required files for UX2BS have been downloaded you may be able to continue the installation of UX2BS on your OS/2 machine without needing to make many changes to the installation scripts. You would also have to download all the archives for the apps you intended to build whilst on the FreeBSD machine > -- > Alex Samorukov (SAMM1-RIPE) -- John _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs
