What you need to initiate the install is ux2_bootstrap. You can get it using this command:- wget ftp://unixos2: at 213.152.37.92/pub/unixos2/build_system/lib/ux2_bootstrap.cmd I suspect you have got your information from the UX2BS web page. Sorry if the post is a little long, but it needs to be clear. Using WSeB and a clean 10Gb partition on JFS. Running ux2_inst.cmd ended with errors like these: g:\sbin/build.sh: g:\sbin/build.sh[39]: grep: not found crypt not defined in build.table Entering g:\install\gcc_omf_inst.cmd with REPOSITORY=g:\install\archives SYS1041: The name make is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. This was traced to this line in pkg_inst.cmd for %%1 in (%repository%\ux2\*.zip) do call installpkg -v -f %%1 changing '%%1' to '%1' lets it run, but then gives errors like these: [unixos2 G:\install\archives>call installpkg -v -f g:\install\archives\ux2\wget. zip 102 +++ unixroot = UX2UnixRoot(); REX0043: Error 43 running G:\usr\sbin\installpkg.CMD, line 102: Routine not found which is this snippet: /* determine the target dir */ if root="" then unixroot=UX2UnixRoot() else do unixroot=root unixroot=translate(unixroot,'\','/') unixroot=strip(unixroot,'T','\') end Commenting out various lines like this (lns 119, 133, 239, 411, 412, 413) allowed this cmd to run to completion, but finally running 'final_inst.cmd' gave: SYS0191: EMXLIBCS cannot be run in an OS/2 session. make: *** [st/gcc.lib] Error 1 SYS0191: GCC29160 cannot be run in an OS/2 session. and similar errors ... Config.sys has nothing at all relating to EMX (this is a new installation on a new machine). The prime suspect at this point is the JFS rather than HPFS being used. Has anyone run ux2 successfully on a JFS drive? Or would anyone have any suggestions on other causes and solutions? You could do that, but if you have a common network drive, say N: you could SET REPOSITORY=n:/archives in the session where you intend to run ux2_bootstrap and if you XCOPY \unixos2\archives to that directory it can be shared by any number of machines. That does not account for UX2BS having been downloaded which is done by ux2_inst. As it stands at the moment UX2BS does require EMX.DLL and EMXLIBCS.DLL to be accessible. This is a major shortcoming. Also, there should be another flag on the make line " -D d_dosuid" IIRC, which builds a suidperl executable. Obviously this is a dummy on OS/2, but if you want to run OpenWebMail then it expects to find it. > >-- >John > > > >_______________________________________________ >UX2BS mailing list >UX2BS at os2ports.com >http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs > --_=_=_=IMA.BOUNDARY.HX98HR138764=_=_=_ Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="diff.perl.580.os2" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 LS0tIHBlcmwtNS44LjAub3JpZy9vczIvb3MyLmMJV2VkIEp1biAyNiAxNzozMDozNCAyMDAyCisr KyBwZXJsLTUuOC4wL29zMi9vczIuYwlTdW4gT2N0IDEzIDE1OjA1OjU2IDIwMDIKQEAgLTI5LDE2 ICsyOSwyMiBAQAogI2luY2x1ZGUgIkVYVEVSTi5oIgogI2luY2x1ZGUgInBlcmwuaCIKCitpbnQK K2Nob3duKGNvbnN0IGNoYXIgKnBhdGgsIHVpZF90IG93bmVyLCBnaWRfdCBncm91cCkKK3sKKyAg ICByZXR1cm4gMDsgIC8qIG5vb3AgKi8KK30KKwogI2lmZGVmIFVTRV81MDA1VEhSRUFEUwoKIHR5 cGVkZWYgdm9pZCAoKmVteF9zdGFydHJvdXRpbmUpKHZvaWQgKik7CmRpZmYgLXVyIHBlcmwtNS44 LjAub3JpZy9vczIvb3MyaXNoLmggcGVybC01LjguMC9vczIvb3MyaXNoLmgKLS0tIHBlcmwtNS44 LjAub3JpZy9vczIvb3MyaXNoLmgJU2F0IEp1biAgMSAxODowMzozNCAyMDAyCisrKyBwZXJsLTUu OC4wL29zMi9vczJpc2guaAlTdW4gT2N0IDEzIDE1OjA1OjQ4IDIwMDIKQEAgLTI1LDYgKzI1LDEx IEBACiAgKglUaGUgZ2V0cHdlbnQoKSBoYXMgYSBzZXBhcmF0ZSBkZWZpbml0aW9uLCBIQVNfR0VU UFdFTlQuCiAgKi8KICNkZWZpbmUgSEFTX1BBU1NXRAorI2RlZmluZSBIQVNfR0VUUFdFTlQKKyNk ZWZpbmUgSEFTX0NSWVBUCisjZGVmaW5lIEhBU19DSE9XTgorCitleHRlcm4JaW50CWNob3duKGNv bnN0IGNoYXIgKnAsIHVpZF90IG8sIGdpZF90IGcpOwoKIC8qIEhBU19HUk9VUAogICoJVGhpcyBz eW1ib2wsIGlmIGRlZmluZWQsIGluZGljYXRlcyB0aGF0IHRoZSBnZXRncm5hbSgpIGFuZAoK --_=_=_=IMA.BOUNDARY.HX98HR138764=_=_=_ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs --_=_=_=IMA.BOUNDARY.HX98HR138764=_=_=_--
