Does grep work outside of the shell?
The gcc shell modifies the environment and may make regex.dll unavailable. Or the path to regex.dll is not added to BEGINLIBPATH.

It would be good to get to that monster through small incremental steps built through the build system itself. The dangers of just adding pre-built packages is that they were built elsewhere and may or may not work on your own system, whereas if they are built using your own environment there is a much better chance of them doing so. > -- > T.Sikora > tsikora at ntplx dot net -- John _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 7 ==========================** Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 06:51:31 -0500 From: "T.Sikora" Subject: Re: REGEX not found Pieter Kruger wrote: > T.Sikora wrote: > >>> James Moe wrote: >> >> >> >> Did you install it recently or are you using that monster I created in >> Johns absence. That's probably a good idea. I pretty much jumped the gun with that. But at least it gave us a goal to achieve or how it will or can look and run when completed. It actually worked pretty good all things considered. > > The dangers of just adding pre-built packages is that they were built > elsewhere and may or may not work on your own system, whereas if they are > built using your own environment there is a much better chance of them > doing so. > > I remember we were discussing the possibility of making it the UnixOS2 distribution install after removing the development tools from it. So in reality all those old packages from the distro are null and void because they were never really built by the ux2bs. We should work on those package tools so we can roll up the ports that build now. I'll move them to incoming at os2ports.com so if anyone feels adventurous they can look at them. I was also thinking maybe we should reconsider putting everything back under the /UnixOS2 tree much like Microsoft's SFU, Cygwin, and FreeBSD's Linux. If we build everything with a DPATH we should have no problems whatsover. Putting it in root almost caused a revolution. -- T.Sikora tsikora at ntplx dot net _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 10 ==========================** Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 07:13:33 -0500 From: "T.Sikora" Subject: Re: REGEX not found T.Sikora wrote: > John Poltorak wrote: > >> On Fri, Feb 20, 2004 at 06:20:40AM -0500, T.Sikora wrote: >> >> >>> Did you install it recently or are you using that monster I created >>> in Johns absence.
