Maybe you can explain what you mean when you say you have installed UX2BS... You don't actually start the shell, you run 'build appname'. Build starts its own shell and creates the environment it needs. > I'm more asking about doing something like getting the sources for some > app that's not included in the build system. I did start this off as a > way to try porting nmap... If you are lucky, all you need to do is create a new entry in build.table which includes the app name and the url which is definitive location for the source of the app, then run 'build app'. On occasions it is as simple as that! More often than not, some tweaking is required. I would expect nmap to be quite difficult. One feature currently missing from UX2BS is a dependency check, but I would like to incorporate that in due course. This would consist of a table showing all the prerequisite apps, such as libraries which are needed for a sucessfull build. > >>Overall, this is pretty slick, in a unixy kind of way:) > > > > Yes, the slickness of Unix is the way things 'just happen' without you > > even noticing it. > > > > I'd like UX2BS to work just as automagically, but still needs quite a bit > > of work. > > Doesn't it always? I've downloaded ux2bs_inst.cmd and run it. It seems that all was ok. There is a log file to check, anyway?
