That isn't really a good app to start with. It's only included in 
build.table as a convenience...

I'm not sure why this version of Autoconf is used. v2.57 should be the 
default.

I have no idea if a2ps will build, but it appears that there something 
wrong with your UX2BS installation.

Yes, error checking does need some additional work, but it isn't always 
easy to devise the correct tests.
