The Perl DB_File standard module is designed for Berkeley DB 1.x. You can use it with higher versions, but functionality is limited to that of 1.x. Obviously, if you build the latest Sleepycat version without support for 1.x, you won't even get that. But with the BerkeleyDB module (http://www.perl.com/CPAN-local/authors/id/P/PM/PMQS/BerkeleyDB-0.25.tar.gz), you can use the new features in 2.x and higher. Installing it and running "make test" should turn up any problems. h~ _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 4 ==========================** Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 11:07:48 +0000 From: John Poltorak Subject: Re: WGET & NAT On Sat, Nov 15, 2003 at 09:46:17PM -0500, T.Sikora wrote: > T.Sikora wrote: > > John Poltorak wrote: > > > >> Ted, > >> > >> I'm forwarding a reply from the os2-isp list about using WGET and NAT. > >> > >> Sounds as if it ought to work. > >> > >> BTW have you managed to have any success with UX2BS yet? > > > > > > Been so busy (or lazy)finally got some time tonight. The main problem I had was that the ux2bs environment on my system spawned a new process for every build line in the make file. It ended up with 60 - 70 new processes (mostly for libtool) that each consumed 5 - 20 MB RAM. It quickly ran out of both RAM and file handles. It was not a pretty sight. No one could offer an explanation for the spawning instead of sequential execution. I could find no way to automate to whole build process. It's broken down into a series of steps. If it was within the last week and it installed properly, you will find that you have three different versions of Autoconf on your system - 2.13, 2.50 and 2.57. That is because some apps work better with specific versions than others. UX2BS is in development although quite functional for a number of apps. You shouldn't really use it on a system which needs to be constantly available, since you are quite likely to break something sooner or later. It is used for building apps from source rather than installing pre-built packages, although it is hoped that at some point it will be able to create installable package, but not just at the moment. If you feel you want to install a new program, then you either need to add or update build.table with the app you want, say APPX, and then, if all goes well you may be able to build and install it by running:- build APPX I've also recently add a builderfolder.cmd which should enable you to build an app by clicking on the selected folder. This has hardly been tested may be be useful. > thx > ------------------------------------------------- > Bart/2 irc:Ihsahn Bart2 at asua.org.pl gg:2400175 > Asu'a member http://www.asua.org.pl > TeamOS/2 Polska http://www.teamos2.org.pl -- John _______________________________________________ UX2BS mailing list UX2BS at os2ports.com http://os2ports.com/mailman/listinfo/ux2bs **= Email 11 ==========================** Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 22:03:20 +0100 From: "Bartosz (Bart/2) Tomasik" Subject: Re: Build system questions On Sun, 16 Nov 2003 21:51:43 +0000, John Poltorak wrote: >When did you install UX2BS? > >If it was within the last week and it installed properly, you will find >that you have three different versions of Autoconf on your system - 2.13, >2.50 and 2.57. UX2BS uses PDKSH's sh. It sounds as though you may not have been completely successful installing UX2BS.
