Can somebody provide a current brief synopsis of these discussions? There will be a new Unix compatibility library, or an improved EMX library. Three projects are partly finished: - Posix/2 - Libemu - Innotek The discussion is, whether one of those is used, or whether it is started from scratch. Unfortunately most posts are about neglegibilities and peculiarities. Libemu is providing some low level functionality, so if you put Posix/2 on top of that, some things suddenly (are supposed to) start working, which didn't work before (i.e. with Posix/2 on EMX), e.g. link related functions which currently always return an error code (unless you define you want linking replaced with copying). Apart from testing and bugfixes, Posix/2 got about as far as it could get on its own... > - Innotek Actually, last time I was asking, I heard that Innotek wouldn't really care about Unix compati- bility, so I don't really know, if their libc is relevant in our context. Some minutes ago, I read that they base at least their new headers on FreeBSD-5.1, so my interest is currently increasing rapidly again...
