The baysian filtering doesn't kick in until you feed it a bunch of ham and spam. See man sa-learn for useage. Also on OS/2 spamassassin has problems rebuilding the database, creates bayes_toks.new then trys to move it to bayes_toks. Perl fails as it uses OS/2s copy command which fails due to bayes_toks being open I think. From my experience, the Bayesian filtering is completely automatic, but *only* after configuring bayes_path and bayes_learn_to_journal parameters. I stopped using spamassassin around the beginning of the year as my email address changed and now I get perhaps 1 spam a week. Also it is quite slow on OS/2. Last I used was 2.61 From http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/BayesInSpamAssassin The bayesian classifier can only score new messages if it already has 200 known spams and 200 known hams. And it didn't start working here until I fed it all my ham and spam Don;t remember anything about bayes_path and bayes_learn_to_journal parameters. All bayes info here is kept in ~/.spamassassin/bayes* Dave
