I hope this doesn't sound like a naiive request, but has anyone here given any thought to trying to port Kismet to OS/2? Kismet (http://www.kismetwireless.net) is Wi-Fi sniffing software which is pretty powerful stuff. I'm not really up to the task myself, but I figure that some of the people here are. I don't know exactly what the prerequisites are for it and whether we have everything needed (heck, I'm not even sure if our current crop of NIC drivers will support throwing the cards into rfmon mode), but it would sure be a handy tool to have (and no, I don't go around sniffing networks for free access!!) :-) -- Lewis --------------------------------------------------------------------- Lewis G Rosenthal, CNA Rosenthal & Rosenthal : Accountants / Network Consultants New York / Northern Virginia : www.2rosenthals.com Novell Users International : www.whytheylie.com OS/2's new face is eComStation : www.ecomstation.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- This OS/2 system (Apollo) uptime is 0 days 06:50 hours and 46 seconds **= Email 2 ==========================** Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2003 08:37:34 +0200 From: Andreas Buening Subject: Re: Innotek libc license & release issues (was Re: [EMX] Re: libc) Adrian Gschwend wrote: [snip] > Talked to Achim on #netlabs today, the code will be released under > LGPL. E.g. what features does it support (NLS, regex, ...), is it emx compatible in some sense, which standards does it support (posix/bsd/sysV)? What's the "philosophy" behind it? Asked again on #netlabs, Knut told this: NLS is present. regex is in separate lib I think (it's there somewhere), and if we're check against any standards is the Single Unix Specification on opengroup.org the philosophy is GPL is evil in some guys eyes, but BSD is fine. :) nah, philosophy or target if you like, is that mozilla should work better than ever. Achim told that you might send an email to knut (bird at innotek.de), he will send you a source snapshot afterwards hope this helps cu adrian -- Adrian Gschwend at netlabs.org ktk [a t] netlabs.org ------- Free Software for OS/2 and eCS http://www.netlabs.org **= Email 4 ==========================** Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2003 20:11:30 +0200 From: Andreas Buening Subject: Re: Innotek libc license & release issues (was Re: [EMX] Re: libc) Adrian Gschwend wrote: [snip] > hope this helps Sorry, not really. I'd like to have a short overview of what this libc is supposed to be (what you don't get from just looking at the source). E.g.: This libc is based on glibc/bsd libc/emx/written from scratch. It supports the functions of the following standards: C90/C99/Posix1/Posix2/SysV/bsd/Winxy/OS2. Filenames can (not) contain drive letters/backslashes/forward slahes. File > 2GB are (not) supported. The emx underscore functions are (not) supported. The syntax of chdir() is (not) like in emx. It contains the extra features regex/iconv/gettext/glob/whatever. > Achim told that you might send an email to knut (bird at innotek.de), he > will send you a source snapshot afterwards So bird at innotek.de is the libc expert at innotek I can ask?
