I like Innotek's license model, because I'm hoping to upgrade my client from IBM C Set 2.01 to GCC, and they won't like GPL either. I guess an LGPL is OK for glibc, but BSD is more obviously safe for a corporation to use. For OS/2 software that I write for myself, either GPL or BSD are just fine, because my software is to be freely available to anyone. -- Neil Waldhauer, neil at blondeguy.com Chinese proverb: Person must sit in chair with mouth open long time before roast duck fly in! **= Email 2 ==========================** Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 12:39:02 +0200 (CDT) From: "Adrian Gschwend" Subject: Re: [EMX] Re: libc On Sat, 19 Jul 2003 13:50:36 +0200, Andreas Buening wrote: >I also have vague memories of "no Unix support" so I'm sceptical. >What's their license model? I think we can expect it with a BSD-license model. For sure the final word is up to Achim. He should be back this week, so expect comments later this week. All code that is GPL (GCC for example) will for sure be released as GPL but that doesn't mean that a libc library does have to use GPL as well (they won't use GPLed code for sure if they release it under a different license). cu Adrian Just as reminder, I'm off for the next 2.5 weeks so no more news from my side till then. -- Adrian Gschwend at netlabs.org ktk [a t] netlabs.org ------- Free Software for OS/2 and eCS http://www.netlabs.org
