Scilab is a program similar to Matlab. It was developed by INRIA, a French research establishment. I was told it runs under Linux. Does anyone know if it has been ported to OS/2? I don't know whether it has been ported, but that does not mean it won't work... Some Open Source programs will build on OS/2 without any specific porting. I'm new to the list so I just thought I'd say hi and ask what is going on. I do have a specific reason for subscribing to the list. I help where I can with the eCSDevGroup and one of the projects we have been working on is a document called eCS File and Directory Standard (eFDS-1.TXT). So what does that have to do with this group you are wondering? It was suggested by one of the folks in the eCSDevGroup that we consult with this group. The reason has to do with one of the reasons for producing the document in the first place: We are trying to set some standards for folks to follow in order to ease system administration. In writing the document we are basically following strategy of: Borrow the best ideas from *nix, DOS and Windows...and keep it simple. Anyway, if anyone here is interested in seeing the document in its current form please let me know and I'll email a copy to you. We would certainly like input and it would be fantastic if someone or several of you here were to help edit. It is already an interesting document and you will see a lot of what is in it included in the soon to ship eCS v1.1. Regards, Nick
