As I recall, there was very little one had to do to get the clients up and running. The server config was a little more involved, though. Once proper server configuration is accomplished, one needs to change 2 files on the client machine. In $etc the resolv2 file needs to point to the server machine, and the file socks.env needs to have the following line: socks_flag on Once this is done, I did not need to do anything to individual application configurations. Does it come with any sample apps to build? Or links to apps which can be built with wxWindows? -- John **= Email 3 ==========================** Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 10:47:20 +0000 From: John Poltorak Subject: Socks server Has anyone used the new socks server uploaded to Hobbes? I'm trying to get it set up so that I can read USENET news on my internal network, but haven't figured out how... I hoped that I would only need to run SOCKSD on a system with direct Internet access and then I could simply add details for the socks server under Manual Proxy Configuration under Netscapes preferences, but there must be more to it than that... Meant to tell you that .zip is just source, no binaries. You can build wxOS2 with either VA or EMX. And all the samples are there, although only a few have makefiles. I tested wxOS2 with enough samples to only ensure the basic stuff worked needed to write a serious app. The others may or may not work and the sample makefiles are trivial...they just basically give you the sample exe name to build and then call a common environment setting makefike. Remember wxOS2 is only a beta level, if even that. Hoping it garners enough interest to get people to post patches and fixes. -----Original Message----- From: John Poltorak [mailto:jp at manninghammills.org] Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 5:04 PM To: os2-unix at manninghammills.org Subject: Mail problems It seems that some postings to the list got lost due to problems with my server today...
