Also, the whole UnixOS/2 distro Concerning "previous versions" of Perl for OS/2: -the official pre-built OS/2 Perl on CPAN is still IZ's 5.00x version -HS's 5.60 and 5.7x builds (on os2ports) surely are adopted to OS/2, but contain paths specific to the build system in many places, so that one has to manually fine tune them anyway (there is a "full" package and an additional one with some more current binaries, but without any explanation, what the difference of these newer files is: besides, the readme file of the "full package" does not match the package in all details) All in all: I do not think that a 5.8.0 build, accompanied by a readme file, would make anything worse. > seems to be on hold at the moment and there seems little interest in > continuing with it, which is a pity after the success we had in getting > Perl built out of the box, something which I would like to be able to do > with every Unix app... This is a rather complex issue: should one try to build "everything" without any dedicated porting effort? I am under the impression that some important building blocks of unixos2 lost stability in the process of their evolution (gcc3.0.3 vs 2.8.1, emacs 20.6 vs 19.34, ...). On the other hand the make and autoconf packages are better than ever now. It is a vital point that the maintainers of ports are responsive to changing requirements, e.g. the introduction of FHS. Otherwise packages will (and would have to) become "self contained" like e.g. Postgres, that comes with its own bash, grep, cat, .... and does only install from the root of a drive. -- Thomas Hoffmann Telephone: 49-351-4598831 thoffman at zappa.sax.de Dresden, Germany ..sig under construction ... **= Email 2 ==========================** Date: Sat, 5 Oct 2002 15:22:07 From: Voytek Eymont Subject: Re: PostNuke ** Reply to note from John Poltorak Wed, 25 Sep 2002 09:24:49 +0100 > Which version of PostNuke and PHP? > > Is it possible to edit the config file rather than using admin.php to > configure it? > no idea, it just installed, downloaded few days ago, url via email > > all I need to know, how to config it's mailing with Hethmon's hmailer.. > > then I could use it... > > How about Sendmail? What is the latest version of autoconf available for OS/2? Or perhaps a better way to phrase it is, what is the latest "binary" version of autoconf for OS/2? I've found autoconf 2.53b on Hobbes, which I've been trying to get working as part of a bigger project (that requires at least autoconf 2.5) but seem to be running into trouble just getting it going. I upgraded my installed perl to try and get things going, followed the instructions but still things don't seem to come together quite as planned. But then again, my plan really was to work on the main project, and not have to wrestle with getting the tools into place! Anybody have any pointers/suggestions as far as getting a working autoconf into place?
